[Dewey-Darrow] Join your neighbors in the Streets 0n Tuesday between 6-9pm

To all the wonderful residents of the Dewey-Darrow Neighborhood ;
 
    We are joining with six other neighborhood watch groups  on this Tuesday 
night to participate in the largest yet annual National  Night Out..   As you 
will see from the email flyer that has been sent  to you just before this note 
there are several things happening in our  community.: meeting in our area as 
immediate neighbors, then walking together to  Crown Park where all the 
neighborhood groups converge to begin a walk through  the immediate area- focusing 
on spots in our community that have been sites of  violent crime in the past 
few years.  Some of the family members of the  victims of those crimes will 
join us as we remember the loss of their loved  ones.    We will gather after the 
walk back at the park to hear  from select speakers.
  I want to urge all of our good neighbors to consider joining in this  
event- if you cant walk with us to the park (at 6:45);then join us at the park  or 
on the route (detailed in the flyer);
   What we have learned thru the years is that when we  take to the streets 
as  neighbors walking in solidarity with one another  and in strength- 
proclaiming and reclaiming this as our community and  neighborhood-and making a visual 
statment that we are invested in our  community and will work together to 
keep it a safe place to live, raise  children and grow older--that this is 
noticed;   those who might  consider our area for criminal activities tend to move 
on as they know folks are  watching out for one another and are working 
together.
   So come out    get to know all  your neighbors-  talk together as you walk 
thru YOUR streets and lets  make that statement loud and clear and in large 
numbers!!!!!!!  
 This IS our community      and   We ARE Community,
See you on Tuesday  night  ...             bring the kids and the 
grandparents!!!!!!!!
