[Dewey-Darrow] Neighborhood improvement funds approved for cul de sacs

Dear Neighbors,
We are delighted to report that the City Council voted to approve  the use 
of the Neighborhood Improvement Funds for the cul-de-sac proposal. This  
will mean the rejuvenation and/or renovation of 6 cul-de-sacs within the NIF  
area (some have been languishing for decades) by Nature's Perspective. 
Members  of our neighborhood groups had asked Nature's Perspective to design this  
cul-de-sac proposal due to the success of the corner planting project last 
year.  Not only did Nature's Perspective do all the work in the time 
specified, but all  the plants have flourished and they came in under  budget.   
Check out the wonder corner plantings now with  Spring flowers beginning to 
bloom.   
 
As you may remember from the email last week, we have to go back to the  
Economic Development Committee at the end of this month (Wednesday, May  27; I 
had the date wrong) with 3 bids for maintenance of the  cul-de-sacs. We 
have 1 from Nature's Perspective and the EDC is requiring us to  have 2 others. 
However, work on the cul-de-sacs will begin in the meantime. The  initial 
planting includes water and fertilization.
