Evanston CTA Purple Line Open House Draws Huge Crowd
The City of Evanston and the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) held an Open House on Dec. 3 at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center to show the public the future plans for the Purple line and to take public comment. Many Evanston residents turned out along with Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, several aldermen, a representative from Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky’s office and several Northwestern University students.
The CTA is undertaking a study of the Purple Line that will provide guidance for doing major rehabilitation work in the future, pending funding availability. As part of this Vision Study, the public was invited to provide input and feedback regarding Evanston's stations.  The City of Evanston has seven CTA Purple Line stops: South Blvd., Main, Dempster, Davis, Foster, Noyes, and Central.
Guided tours of the open house exhibits were provided and the staff was available to answer questions. The open house was designed to gather public input on existing conditions and issues facing the Purple Line. The open house also provided information on the Vision Study process and long-term timeline.
For those Evanston residents who were unable to attend, they can still submit comments about the Evanston segment of the Purple Line to the CTA at NorthRedPurple at transitchicago.com. To learn more about the Vision Study and see the displays from the open house, visit here...
