As you may know, school board elections will take place this year in April,
at the same time as municipal elections.

I am recruiting members for the Candidate Nominating Committee (see
description below) delegation for the Dewey attendance area. If you or
anyone you know would like to participate, please have them contact me or
Tressa Randolph. (I have included a link to the map for the Dewey area.)

Note; You must be able to attend the two CNC forums in February.

We are looking for diversity on the committee, so please do not feel that
you must have children in Evanston schools to participate.

Thanks,

Mindy Wallis

The Candidate Nominating Committee or CNC is a city-wide, independent,
volunteer group that holds public forums to interview candidates for the
District 65 and District 202 School Boards of Evanston/Skokie. The forums
offer prospective board members an opportunity to present their goals and to
inform voters.

The CNC is comprised of 10 delegations corresponding to District 65's school
attendance areas. Each delegation is made up of 12 delegates and 2
alternates. Delegates and alternates must live within the city of Evanston.
While it may be considered beneficial for delegates to have children
enrolled at D65 or D202, it is not a requirement. Community members may
serve on a delegation based on their home address *or* the area in which
their child attends school.

As a group, CNC delegates have an opportunity to learn each candidate's
goals during a 20-minute interview. Delegates find themselves in a unique
position for providing information about all the candidates to their
communities. They also vote whether or not to endorse candidates. The
ultimate goal of CNC as a whole and of each individual delegate is to
identify knowledgeable, dedicated and committed people to serve on our
school boards. The *2009* forums will begin at 7:00p.m. on Wednesday &
Thursday, February 11th and 12th in room A241 of the ETHS's Art Wing.

The requirements for becoming a CNC delegate are as follows:

1. Proof of residency based on attendance area

2. A commitment to attend all forums

For CNC to be effective, committed volunteers are needed to serve as
delegates. We require a total of 120 delegates representing the diversity of
our city. Dedication to maintaining quality education is a characteristic we
value highly. If you are interested in learning more about the CNC or would
like to become a delegate, please contact *Tressa Randolph at **

Videotapes of past CNC Forums are available at ETHS

The TV Department at ETHS has videotapes of CNC Forums from years past that
are available to the public. If you would like to view the tapes, make
arrangements with the TV Center at ETHS Monday through Friday between 6:00
p.m. and 10:00 p.m. You'll be required to view the tapes at the Center, so
make sure to block off a couple of hours for each session.
