Subj: CITY OF EVANSTON FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 30, 2009
PRESS RELEASE
DATE: Friday, January 30, 2009 11:45 AM
SUBJECT: Water conservation measures
FROM: Rolanda B. Russell, Interim City Manager
WATER FLOW MAY BE DECREASED IN EVANSTON
AND TO ITS CUSTOMER COMMUNITIES
The Evanston Water Treatment Facility is experiencing a problem with the
formation of frazil / anchor ice on the intake pipelines in Lake Michigan. The
formation of anchor ice is limiting the amount of water that can be drawn from
the Lake into the treatment plant. As a result, there is decreased water
flow into the community.
We are requesting the community’s cooperation in conserving all nonessential
water usage, such as laundry, dishwashing, etc. at this time. There will be
updates throughout the day on the City’s Web site at _www.cityofevanston.org_
(http://www.cityofevanston.org/) .
After 12:00 p.m. today, you may direct phone calls to 847-866-2999.
