[Dewey-Darrow] ALERT home break ins=in neighborhood

Neighbors ;
    THis past week there have been two homes on Crain (just  east of 
Florence) that had break ins- through back windows-     and one attempt at 1235 
Darrow on Tues where the screen on the alley window was  cut and the young men 
who were intending to climb in that window were seen by a  neighbor on the 
alley- who yelled at them and they ran off.(wish he had called  the cops or 
taken a picture with his phone!!)
  In doing so they left their mountain bikes behind(which by the way  they 
had placed inside the gated yard of this home- then returned to the visible  
alley to cut the screen.  (not sophisticated thieves  )     All of these 
happened during the day.The Darrow house  was at 2pm and the man who saw it 
said it was two young men- one with a red  shirt and one with a white shirt.  
Beyond that i have asked Officer Napier  to write to out list serves when he 
has more specific descriptive information to  share and whether the police 
have any leads..  The kinds of things being  taken from homes are: lap tops, 
cell phones. I-pods, x boxes or other gaming  systems, money and 
jewelry(things they can carry).   THey seem to  leave flat screen tvs (can move fast 
enough with them i guess) .
   The city crime stats which come to our email daily indicate a  real 
upswing in home burglaries lately-  and it is all over the  city.   But there 
seems to be a thread of using back windows, open  back doors etc.     
It is a good idea to close first floor windows during the day when you are  
gone and at night.
