CLEARLY THERE IS VALUE IN BOTH APPROACHES AND IM SURE MANY NEIGHBORS
WILL BE AT HOME TO KEEP THE BLOCK SECURED BUT THE VALUE OF NEIGHBORS
COMING TOGETHER IN AN EFFORT TO BUILD COMMUNITY WHICH ALSO PROMOTES SAFETY AND
SECURITY IS ALSO VALUABLE LETS DO BOTH

Let's remember the REAL MEANING OF NATIONAL NIGHT OUT. Stay on your blocks
around your houses, porch lights on, sitting or standing and showing a
visible force
in your area. All getting together in one place just says I'm not home and
neither are my neighbors. You know, kind of like a security block party.

In the spirit of Terry's post below- i would remind all that on Aug 4 our
local neighborhood organizers have planned a gathering of neighbors from
all our blocks to come together between 6:30-8:30 @ Robt crown park at lee
and florence for the national night out event. this is a great way to get
to know all your neighbors and connect with them over dessert and
lemonade-and games. Come out and meet and talk to each other. LET'S BUILD
COMMUNITY

Sometimes I actually think it would be useful if we had descriptions
of each other too because I'm sure we pass each other on the street
all the time but tend to just wave or nod (actually a wave would be an
improvement on the nod).
