Subj: Pick-a-Cup's near-term future is uncertain.

Dear friends of Pick-a-Cup:
)

We are in danger of losing our beloved coffee shop! You are the first
people I think of when I think "Pick a Cup", so I'm sending you a copy of the
flier (below). Please consider attending Monday night's meeting. There you
will discover opportunity to help in a way that suits your talents and
interests, and at a level you're comfortable with (starting with simply
continuing to visit frequently!!!).

This effort is being spearheaded by Shel Silver, with my help(John Knox).
We discussed things with Carol for two hours yesterday.

(Feel free to distribute this flier and/or email, and to print up copies
of the flier.)

We Need Pick-a-Cup
And right now, Pick-a-Cup may need us…

Since December 2004, Pick-a-Cup Coffee Club has served central Evanston as
a de facto community center, performance venue, & group living room.
Local artists show their work; musicians and poets perform weekly at Thursday
Open-Mic & Friday Drum-Circle. World Can't Wait, MoveOn, Dreamweaver Users,
Passover Seders, Dewey-Darrow, Florence-Crain & other neighborhood
associations, volunteer groups, & private parties too numerous to list.
Owner/operator Carol Kent lives just four blocks away.

Many of us use its cozy space to read & write, hang out with old friends,
and meet new ones. It's hard to imagine neighborhood life without it.
Yet, Carol's recent illness, further undermined by the poor economy, now puts
Pick-a-Cup’s future in doubt.

Please join us this coming Monday night to learn the situation details,
discuss options, & consider steps for keeping Pick a Cup alive. We have some
ideas, but want to consider more angles with more potential partners
before deciding if or how we might act together.
