Hi all,

I just want to take a minute to let everyone know that we are  firmly into 
burglary season. After a short lull, we are getting hit again. I  need to 
take a minute and congratulate the neighbors in the 1200 Block of  Wesley 
yesterday (November 2, 2009) who noticed a suspicious male, continued  to 
observe him from the safety of their houses, called police while watching  him 
this suspect and, after a short foot pursuit, lead to a successful arrest  of a 
residential burglar; The apprehended burglar was NOT an Evanston  resident, 
nor from a neighboring jurisdiction. The neighbors were actively  speaking 
with each other and police at the time of this occurrence. 

In  the "FILES" section, please see two burglary maps for the last two 
weeks. Be  assured,we are taking several steps to apprehend daytime and 
nighttime  burglary's. I must emphasize, people are STILL not closing and locking 
garages  and cars. Open garages and unlocked cars are an open invitation for 
an  opportunistic crimes, in fact, they lure would-be petty and experienced  
criminals into the neighborhoods where they have been successful in the past 
 !

I will post other crime maps in the future as we continue to track  and use 
both overt and covert means to apprehend people that come into our  
community to make us victims of crime.
