Hi all,

I live at 1205 Wesley and it was my house that was burglarized Monday
morning around 10:30. No one was home but my neighbor next door at 1201 Wesley
was home and heard glass break when the burglar broke the living room window
to get in. The neighbor called police and described the burglar who got my
jewelry and a camera before making a quick exit. Police caught him a few
blocks away. We are very lucky because our TV was unplugged and I assume he
and his accomplice were getting ready to haul it out to their car. They
were just getting started. I wonder if he hit the house on Asbury and also
one at 1200 block of Crain that morning.

Needless to say, if burglars can break windows in broad daylight, then
it's time for an alarm system, which we are getting as quickly as possible.
The Evanston Review article was not useful because it sounds like if you keep
your house locked and valuables out of sight, you don't have to worry.

The guy is in jail and had a criminal record, and apparently has a
girlfriend in the area, which is how he started working in our neighborhood. I'd
love to know who she is and give her some advice about choosing boyfriends!

So my advice is to get an alarm system and don't think, as we did, that
'we don't have anything of value, so who would bother to break in?' Guess we
were wrong!

Hi All,
This morning, a house across the street from mine at 1210 Wesley was
burglarized……but their neighbors at 1205 saw the event unfolding and called
the police. Apparently, there was a get-away car waiting for the burglar. My
neighbor thought that the car looked suspicious. All of a sudden, the cops
arrived and the car sped off. I’m sure the two burglaries are
related----they are hitting up our area. They arrested the burglar. It could have been
the same person who hit up the home on Asbury.
Two weeks ago, our neighbor caught a guy in our shared yard approaching
her back porch. He was trying to break into the house and he tried to break
in to both of our garages. She called the police and before anything could
happen, he took off.
Be on the watch for strange behavior and definitely call the cops.
Andrea Winship

Hey, folks. My next door neighbor on Asbury just got broken into while
she was at work. The mailman had gone to her door--which had been broken
down and the glass shattered about in her reception area. He quickly came to
me, asked me what he should do?? OK, call the police. They came in 5
minutes and stayed till she had come back from school. (They found out where
she works and called her there.) I have no idea what was taken.

The police officer told me the burglaries are rising; we all must be on
the lookout. There is a special task force formed to patrol areas where the
rates are rising.

If anyone even thinks there is something strange, call the cops. Any
time! Liane Casten
