While perhaps my post was worded too strongly, it was clear from the text
that this man was not known by the family and was using false pretenses to
speak with the child.

His race is completely irrelevant, and I suspect that the original poster
included it for the purposes of keeping a lookout for the same individual
performing the same activity.

My frustration is with neighbors who witness suspicious activity and do not
call the police until days later. A quick phone call could possibly have
cleared it all up and identified the man as perfectly safe.

The police have been very clear that they WANT calls about "suspicious
activity," even if it turns out to be nothing. Please don't wait to phone
911.
