Subj: {Asbury Dodge Neighborhood Group}  Attempted Break In



Hello neighbors,

I wanted to let you know about  an attempted break-in early this evening at
our house on Dempster.   The screen on our kitchen window had been opened
(the window itself was  already open) and a patio table had been pulled up
under the window. Maybe  it was the dog dishes in the kitchen that scared
them away, but for some  reason the bad guys took off and fortunately 
nothing
was taken.

I  called the non-emergency police number to report the incident and  
officers
were here within minutes.  Not much they could do at that  point, but the
response was immediate and it's nice to know they're on the  job.

The officer did say that burglaries are on the rise and  recommended all the
obvious preventive measures.  (Like not leaving  the kitchen window open, 
for
example.)

Sadly this is hardly a  newsworthy event but I thought I'd let you know as a
reminder to be careful  and to report any suspicious activity.

PS:  If there are any bad guys on the list-serve: if you do succeed in
breaking  in next time, could you please steal our remaining Cubs tickets?
They're  worth more on an insurance claim than on  resale.
