Klaiber Promoted to Deputy Chief of Evanston Fire & Life Safety Services
EVANSTON, IL – On February 8 Greg Klaiber will be promoted to Deputy Chief of Evanston's Fire and Life Safety Services filling the vacancy recently created by the retirement of Deputy Chief Hunter. The vacancy created by his promotion has been eliminated through budget reductions.
Deputy Chief Klaiber is an Evanston resident and a graduate of Evanston Township High School. As a 25-year veteran of the Department he rose through the ranks from Firefighter/Paramedic, Captain, Division Chief and finally to Deputy Chief. The Deputy Chief is second in command of Evanston Fire and Life Safety Services.
Most recently, Chief Klaiber served as the Division Chief in charge of Emergency Medical Services and Specialty Teams including Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescue and the Water Rescue/Recovery Teams.
In addition to his duties with the City of Evanston, Deputy Chief Klaiber was a School Board Member for District 65 (1999-2003) and was an active participant in Evanston’s Youth Baseball Association. He holds a Master’s Degree in Cardiac Rehabilitation and a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology.
The promotion will take place on Monday, February 8 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fire and Life Safety Services Headquarters located at 909 Lake Street.
